Changing of the Guard: The Red Dawn 3.0

Hello fans of The Red Dawn website. Sticking with the worlds love for Facebook and its interative, (and addictive) elements, we at The Red Dawn are shutting down this old school blog, (it's so 2008) in favor of a more 2009 deal.

GoPro Review from Freeskier - Siiiiiiiick

From Freeskiers' latest issue:
Dollar for dollar, the GoPro Hero is the best POV camera money can buy. Mounts to affix the camera to just about anything are included in your purchase. It records to SD cards, which are a dime a dozen these days. It’s shockproof and waterproof, so even if you can’t stay on your feet, you probably can’t break this thing. It’s so bomber that we’re convinced the only things that will be around after nuclear annihilation will be the GoPro and Cher. The only downside to this camera is it lives off lithium-based AAA batteries — which it inhales at rapid pace — and the menu system is a bit confusing. Even with those minor faults the GoPro is the best way to shoot POV footage.

Full Tilt Covered by MSN

Full Tilt is the only boot from outer space! Check out this article from MSN:

10 inventions with ties to NASA

These out-of-this world innovations have a history with the U.S. space program.

Spacesuit's flex finds ski boot fame

The elbow and knee joints of spacesuits have accordionlike corrugations similar to those in a flexible drinking straw. The design prevents internal pressurization- and temperature-control plumbing from kinking as astronauts bend their limbs. In the late 1970s, one of the engineers who helped design the suits applied the concept to ski boots and a cult was born – the Raichle Flexon. The boot's tongue is corrugated, which allows it to flex without distorting the lower shell. Skiers swore by it and when the Swiss manufacturer halted production in 1996, devotees scrounged garage sales and online auction sites for spare parts and replacements. Then, in 2006, to much fanfare in the ski world, Full Tilt brought the model back into production because "the design works so well," says Jason Levinthal, a brand manager for the company.

I Don't Have that Customer???????????

The #1 reoccurring comment from shops that don't carry LINE is:, "We don't have that customer"

For all you dealers out there that have told us that for the last 14 years, I have a question: "Could these guys come in to your store and feel comfortable?" These kids controlled over 20% of the ski purchases this season. So, who got your 20%?

Full Tilt Tee Shirts!!

It's along story on how these came to be, but I'll do my best...
With so many kids on Newschoolers.com asking how to get rid of shin bang and the answer always being, "Get Full Tilts", it morphed into the answer for any question. here are some quotes from NS:

Full tilt will solve anything. From your social problems, reacial descrimination and shin bang! Its kinda like batman on steroids .

Full Tilts have the advantage of solving world hunger and the nuclear arms race

They also immediately make you good at skiing and fix every problem that exist from the knee down.

Interestingly enough they have been proven to reduce green house gases by converting CO2 in the air in to pure steeze. if everyone had a pair of full tilts it would solve global warming.

You know what would make you feel better? A pair of Full Tilts.

My teacher said her head hurt and i yelled "full tilts for the win!", everyone just looked at me and went back to work

LINE and Full Tilt Kill it in Vegas

In summary, the SIA show was a great success. There was a big increase in dealer demand for both Line & Full Tilt which was very refreshing considering these challenging economic times. While most major ski and snowboard brand’s sell through in the US are down 15-20%, Line is up 89% driving dealers to commit to Line like we’ve never experienced before. We’ve also moved from #12 brand to #8 for all skis, to 4th in flat skis & 2nd in twins.

The star of the entire show was the Afterbang. Everyone walking by Full Tilt stopped to take a second look in awe of the aesthetic updates. Scroll down to see Newschooler’s comments. The Anthem graphics, Afterbang and FT are getting lots of consumer attention: http://www.newschoolers.com/web/content/news/news_id/2498/

US Airways?

With the recent near disaster with the US Air Flight from NY to NC, I felt compelled to go public with an experience I had over the Christmas holiday. The Red Dawn receives airline miles with US Air, so we take a number of flights with them. First, here are my rankings:

Customer Service: 0 out of 10

On Time Arrival Chances: 5 out of 10

Cleanliness: 3 out of 10

Eagerness to Scam their Customers: 10 out of 10 (They charge additional money for emergency exit seating and window/row seating + the standard first checked bag charge + $150 for a surfboard?? but no charge for golf clubs or ski equipment??)

Lastly, I want to include 2 pictures.

Given all the problems I've had, I'm considering not switching my miles program now knowing that they have some extraordinary pilots that can fly their crappy planes without issue.

LINE and Eric Pollard Kill It with New Anthem Skis

Check it out. After LINE created what was rumored to be the best graphic of all the time, (the original Anthem with 80's rockers, Kiss, the guy that sang, "Welcome to the Jungle", etc), the Kiss drummer's wife saw a picture of the ski, (prior to shipping) in Maxim magazine and called her attorney. Long story short, there has been 1,000 Anthems in the Jarden warehouse for 2 + years pending payment to the Kiss Army or ???? Lucky for The Red Dawn and LINE fans everywhere, the people up at LINE Seattle did some magic and somehow actually pulled off the original top sheet and added a new one. Crazy magical process that we don't understand. Check out the new limited edition Anthems in person at the best dealers in Ca, NV and AZ.

Surprise Visit at the Porters Sale!!

Big thanks to Doug Levinthal, (Original artist for LINE) for stopping by the Porters sale yesterday. Coincidentally, the only ski that Porters has left from LINE is the 4 year old Chronic that Doug's artistic skills created the graphic for. LINE's New Marketing Dude Can Ski Good

LINE's marketing dude keeps it real by actually skiing?? What the??? Here's a pic from our guy Josh Malczych, (pronounced Malcheck) who really does ski and is pretty good from up at Windells just 2 days ago. Who's the best skier that has a desk job in the ski industry? It's either Josh or possibly Mike Nick, (Orage's N.A. Marketing Guy).
